JUNIPER TREE CLIMATE SOLUTIONS

Technical & strategic support for high-integrity natural climate solutions

Developing nature-based solutions that clear the technical barriers to scale — simple, transparent systems that put communities and NGOs in ownership of their own carbon projects.

What We do

Developing nature-based solutions that clear the technical barriers to scale — simple, transparent systems that put communities and NGOs in ownership of their own carbon projects

JTCS provides technical and strategic support for the design and implementation of nature-based solutions around the world. Our work spans carbon accounting, ecosystem service assessments, hydrological analysis, remote sensing, and forest inventory and monitoring systems — helping companies, governments and multilateral organizations build programs that meet international standards while remaining practical and transparent.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build tools and systems that make carbon accounting accessible, credible, and locally driven—ensuring climate finance flows where it matters most.

Experience

Michael Netzer

Ecologist & Geospatial Advisor

Michael is an ecologist and geospatial expert specializing in natural climate solutions, with over eighteen years of experience delivering science-based solutions across forestry, carbon sequestration, land-use change, hydrology and climate adaptation. He has supported the development of high-integrity carbon projects under the Voluntary Carbon Market globally, including direct technical contributions to standards and methodological approaches for REDD and Improved Forest Management (IFM) under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).
Over the past eighteen years he has worked on more than a half-dozen domestic U.S. land-use and forestry carbon projects — spanning IFM, Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR), and Improved Agricultural Land Management (IALM) — including some of the earliest IFM and avoided-conversion projects in the United States, such as work on Afognak Island, Alaska, the Alligator River IFM and avoided-conversion projects, and regional assessments of IFM and ARR potential across the Mississippi River Valley.
He advises governments, companies and multilateral organizations on REDD+ programs, carbon accounting and SBTi strategies, due diligence and investment risk, and develops advanced geospatial tools for deforestation modeling, remote sensing, hydrological analysis and climate-risk assessment — working closely with clients, funders, scientists, government officials and local stakeholders, from farmers to NGOs.
